WellWise.org is a start-up non-profit organization that needed an informational and guest blogging website to share their nutraceutical research. Google Analytics, advanced blogging features, social networking, and a built-in structure help keep them organized and in touch with their visitors. The effect-rich homepage was designed by my partners at GorillArts Group, who also printed stunning business cards and half-page announcement flyers. Feedback has been great: "It looks like a magazine!" "It's so easy to use!"

Around the turn of the millennium I was a dot-commie at TowerRecords.com as part of a 12-person team of gifted hackers, artists, and poly-geeks taking on the 200-people-each strong Amazon.com and CDNow.com. Among far too much, I built and maintained custom CMS & CRM systems, refined legacy code for performance boosts, and my documentation officially set new company-wide documentation standards. It was a wild and innovative place where amazing work was done.

Whenever I need to extend my skill base, one of the first places I go is GorillArts Group a media, marketing, and web development company I'm a principal in. We're a handful of lifelong experts in our respective fields from traditional graphic design to professional photography to, you guessed it, website design and development. I built the GorillArtsGroup.com website as a simple marketing piece, but included back-end paperless office tools for the company and its clients. As usual, there's more to a website than meets the eye.

In 2004 I took a seasonal break to learn winemaking (another passion) from the cellar up -- and ended up building another website anyway! Using photos I took throughout harvest, I built this full-custom website for Jeriko Estate Winery, a small organic winery on the Russian River in Hopland, California. Photography, copywriting, design, custom CMS, e-commerce, and more. You do everything when you're a one-man web shop, including, apparently, helping make the wine, too!

I've been building websites for non-profit organizations since 1999 when I built a Musician's networking website for BREATH, the California Smoke-Free Bar Program. Community site functionality has gotten much easier since then -- at the time I had to program everything from scratch. The most amazing part for me was watching new technology unite many famous musicians from all decades who had become avid smoke-free bar advocates. After all, that's where they often work. I've loved working with Non-Profit Organizations ever since.
